‘Beyond the West End’ Print

An original painting to celebrate London’s Off-West End, fringe and pub theatres, because there is so much amazing talent and writing to witness beyond the West End. 

I’ve wanted to create a piece like this for a long time now, and it took several months of research, planning and designing before settling on this composition. It explores some larger scale Off-West End theatres such as the Royal Court Theatre, Soho Theatre, Young Vic, and Almeida Theatre. I also wanted to put the spotlight on some smaller scale pub theatres which I have spotted on my travels around London such as the Tabard in Chiswick, and the The Bread & Roses in Clapham. 

Finalised with lots of little characters, tube stops and iconic sights around London, this huddled mish-mash of colourful theatre buildings hopefully captures the joy, love and (sometimes whacky) atmosphere that makes Fringe theatre so exciting.
